Can you use someone else's Costco card for gas? ›

Costco Shop Cards may only be purchased or recharged by members, but with assistance from an attendant to first authorize the pump, anyone can use a Costco Shop Card to pay for fuel.

Weekends are the busiest, so avoid those days. Drive in between 10 am and noon on a weekday for shorter waiting times in line. Most people tend to pull up during their lunch breaks and after work in the evening on weekdays. Traffic is one-way only at all Costco gas stations to keep it moving quickly.

Where does Costco gasoline come from? The gasoline from you local Cosco comes from the same terminal as the rest of your local gas stations. The only difference is that is doesn't get the proprietary additive package added to it that you pay extra for from Shell or Chevron or whatever your local options are.

The fact that gas is cheaper at Costco doesn't mean it's lower in quality. The company offers Kirkland Signature gasoline, which is formulated to improve vehicle performance and fuel economy. Costco says the gas also reduces emissions, making it better for the environment.

The Costco membership card is non-transferable, but there are several ways to share the experience with family and friends. Anyone with a card can bring up to two guests to the Warehouse during each visit. Keep in mind that purchasing items is exclusive to Costco members.

Costco Gas Stations and Car Washes accept: Visa, debit/ATM and Costco Shop Cards. Photo identification and approval by a supervisor or manager may be required.

Each cardholder may bring two guests. However, guests do NOT have purchasing privileges. Costco can refuse entry to anyone at any time at its discretion. This includes members who do not display their Costco membership cards when requested.
