Talk about the Florida Lottery and most of the time our attention is drawn immediately to the big numbers in the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots.

Are there any requirements to play the Florida Lottery?
Florida Lottery games can be played and won by adults 18 years of age or older, regardless of age, citizenship, race or financial status.
How do you claim a Florida Lottery prize worth more than $1 million?

How much do you have to pay in taxes on a lottery prize?
The Internal Revenue Service requires the Florida Lottery withhold 24 percent federal withholding tax from prizes greater than $5,000 if the winner is a citizen or resident alien of the U.S. with a Social Security number.
Can Florida Lottery winners remain anonymous?
Florida Lottery winners cannot remain anonymous.
Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner's name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information; however, Florida Lottery winners' street addresses and telephone numbers are kept confidential.
Beginning May 25, 2022, the names of Lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner
