How is this game? PoE is spergy as frick. Diablo 4 is just as bad (2024)

It's my favorite ARPG, but I'm not very autistic about the genre. So I'm not really investing hundred of hours and not doing in-depth build planning and end game builds.
So basically I've made this comment to say I like the game but have nothing to actually answer your questions.
It is fixed maps though, that's true.

I love the sinple fact the whole game can be played with only the mouse. When my controller breaks and I wait for a new one this is the game I play in the meantime

It's built on the Titan Quest engine and improves on a lot of the TQ mechanics. I still prefer TQ, though, because GD's artstyle doesn't do it for me.

I dont like the titan quest style talent system, other than that its a decent game worth a playthrough if you like these sorts of games.

How good at the mods? Like is it just the same maps with new skills?

Bought it a long time ago, wanna play solo with demolitionist. Any good build dlc-free ?

Fun game, but the permadeath doesn't really add much enjoyment, with the early game being more slog worthy than the rest.

What's the situation on multiple mods?

Not very interesting after a few hours. Classes all play the same you just get different colored energy cones for skills.

I love that with gamepad support and the recently-ish added universal dash move you can play it like an arcade beat-em-up. I don't give a frick about ultra-optimized builds or endgame loot chasing.

Play Poe, diablo 2 or last epoch in my humble opinion
Poe is for autists
diablo 2 is for nostalgia gays
Last epoch is for casuals (LMAONOENDGAME)

First 20 levels are for listening to podcasts or other sh*t actual snooze tier
After that, and especially in the dlcs and harder difficulties it's really good, just a bit bland. Story is great imo, enough different enemy types (outside aetherials) to keep you on your toes. Some of the items are too wordy but that got updated recently.

My biggest problem with this whole genre is that it's 99% mindless clicking and 1% getting one shot by a random elite and you now have to completely deconstruct the game in order to change your build to now deal with this 1 mob.

Is it too much to ask for one game where I can roleplay as a necromancy have have a group of skeletons doing my bidding? There needs to be a game like Overlord but instead of imps the minions are skeletons.

Forgotten Gods xpac added a merchant that sells tokens that a new character can use to instantly unlock higher difficulty tiers, but that does necessitate playing through the tutorial & easy modes first.
seriously the normal difficulty is like tutorial mode. The "Veteran" toggle for it didn't do much.
also yeah skellies end up underperforming when they start to get shattered easily. they're sort of extra sauce when your farding fleshy golem is supposed to be the boss of the horde... pet builds are always really f*ckken hard for a dev to balance right.

It's neat, I like the setting, it's probably too slow for some and I think past a point they went way overboard with the sizes of the maps

Was the PC always meant to be whatever class you chose for them as their background or did them being possessed is the only reason why they can fight now besides making portals?

I love it.
Oathkeeper/Nightblade to walk around with 4 permanent summons that don't get attacked is pretty fun.
