NSCF Is Here: BSU TIME!!!! Also Alexandria University For Some Reason!
Ah yes, fall. A time of year in Cardenao marked by glistening sandy beaches, gigantic potholes in once paved roadways, and tropical folk doing tropical folk things…a time like any other in the year. Except for one difference, one tiny…little…difference……
IT'S FUCKING NSCF SEASON BOYOS LETS GO! MAN I am so jacked up to be writing about college football again, it's the best sport, it's the best competition, it's purity, it's life, it's fckn college football bahbee!
Once again LeBois Santura will take the field in their blue and orange while, for the first time and somewhat confusingly, Alexandria University will be contesting for the first time (though of course their entire team transferred in from New Cardonia State). We all know what NSCF is about, so let's jump into reviewing the players charging out this upcoming season!
LeBois Santura University Broncos
Quarterbacks:
Brett Hannah: Sophomore, 6’6 213lbs-Strong Arm
Michael Monrovia (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 206lbs-Scrambler
Thomas Romeijnsen (Academia Cardonia/CAD): Freshman, 6’1, 198lbs-Dart Thrower
Goodbye Bobby Dials! The former NSCF Player of the Year has headed to the Cardenao Football League and just like that, the Broncos best position has arguably become one of their worst. Sophomore Brett Hannah is the likely starter and he is a much different style of quarterback compared to his predecessor so there’s going to be some growing pains this season. Brett Hannah is a more traditional rocket armed type of QB compared to Bobby Dial’s scrambling, play extending feet and ability to hit the open option while doing so. This means we should be seeing more medium and deep-shot pass attempts to take advantage of Brett Hannah’s strong arm. Sorry BSU fans, but BH is the oldest QB on the roster as a sophomore; he’s got two freshmen backing him up. Newcomer Michael Monrovia is one of the more exciting quarterback prospects in recent years thanks to his incredible athleticism and ability to run for the position, while fellow Cardenao High School League product Thomas Romeijnsen is a real dart thrower. He might not have the biggest arm or the fastest legs but he can really put the ball on a rope and fire home precise throws over shorter distances that have zero margin for error and he’ll nail them. There’s some real variety in the LeBois QB room…too bad they can only start one.
Running Backs:
Reno Thai: Junior, 5’9 207lbs-Elusive Back
Alejandro Garrina: Senior, 6’1 213lbs-Power Back
Cortney Allen (Riverstone International School/CAD): Freshman, 5’10, 194lbs-Receiving Back
Malik Carter: Junior, 5’10 199lbs-Receiving Back
Zaro Rodriguez: Sophomore, 5’8 200lbs-Elusive Back
Colt Fulton: Junior, 6’ 204lbs-Receiving Back
Reno Thai had a productive, if not exactly impressive freshman season for the Broncos and will be expected to really bang on this year with a season’s experience under his belt. With the departure of Bobby Dials as a surefire option in the passing game, you’d have to think Reno will see a lot more action as an important part of the offensive gameplan. Alejandro Garrina will likely see plenty of time as the senior brings a sort of battering ram approach compared to Reno Thai’s more explosive agility. Inbound freshman Cortney Allen will also see snaps as the team’s best pure receiving back, the Riverstone International School product arrives with college ready route running and hands from the backfield. Malik Carter had a sophomore campaign to forget about after showing some flashes as a freshmen, but rumor is he’s been putting in a lot of work in during the off-season to progress beyond solely being a receiving option to prove he can handle the ball as a runner too. Zaro Rodriguez is a short but slipper runner who showed plenty of potential as a freshman, unfortunately the state of the running back room doesn’t leave him a whole lot of opportunity at the start of the season, but if he performs well who knows what could happen. Colt Fulton was recovering from his ACL tear but did feature in the latter half of the season, popping up with several short yet impactful cameos. His role is a little undefined as this will be the first time we’ve seen him back at full health in nearly a season and a half, so it’s up to him to write his fate.
Tight Ends:
Erik Skarsgård (TKT): Sophomore, 6’6 255lbs-Possession
Vittorio Bermuda: Freshman, 6’5, 260lbs-Vertical Threat
Jonathan Duckworth: Senior, 6’2 255lbs-Blocking
With senior Nejc Graciano headed to the draft, there is quite the opportunity for one of the Broncos tight ends to really step up and seize the position for their own. Erik Skarsgård is likely to begin the season as the starter thanks to his size, capable catching ability, and understanding of Coach Steve Valentine’s gameplan, but incoming freshman Vittorio Bermuda is the most promising Cardenoan tight end prospect in at least a decade. He’s an explosive route runner with the hands of a receiver while his huge 260lbs frame is perfect for blocking on the line, so Bermuda will ultimately end up a versatile starter for the Broncos. Jonathan Duckworth is perhaps the best blocker of the bunch but is so one-dimensional in his overall skill set that the senior will likely only see the field in specific scenarios.
Wide Receivers:
Saivion Ware: Junior, 5’11, 189lbs-Slot ----Returner
Gigi Dudley: Junior, 6’2, 198lbs-Playmaker
Jamichael Perkins: Sophomore, 6’4, 211lbs-X Receiver
Demario Southward (Ranoria City Cathedral High School/RAN) : Freshman, 6’4, 215lbs-X Receiver
Tywin Shabeux: Senior, 5’10 181lbs-Slot
Justice Harmon (Riverstone International School/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 171lbs-Z Receiver
With Bobby Dials departure, so too has his favorite target, Antonio Reddick, who is headed to the CFL. That clears the path for junior Saivion Ware to be the wide receiver one, and he’s ready to build on an incredible season with 1435 yards and 15 touchdowns. It’ll be interesting to see the type of season he has with the change of quarterback for the Broncos, Brett Hannah has a bigger arm than Bobby but he’s nowhere near the complete thrower that his predecessor was. Sophomore Jamichael Perkins stands ready to start as the X receiver for LeBois, sure he saw limited snaps as a freshman but he’s 6’4 211 pounds and he’s got a QB with a rocket arm so it’s time to see if JP can be the tall, big, deep-ball style receiver the Broncos need. He’ll have to preform well because incoming Ranorian freshman Demario Southward is bound to be a solid player for the Broncos during his collegiate career. Senior slot Tywin Shabeux will find snaps hard to come by with the skill in the receiving room, it’s interesting that his sophomore season is almost certainly going to end up as his most productive one. Finally, at the end of the bench it’s Justice Harmon, the freshman from Riverstone International School is very quick and agile with solid 6’2 height and good football IQ means Justice could be an impactful Z receiver by his upperclassmen years.
Guards:
Marwin Finlayson (QUE): Sophomore, 6’8 312lbs-Power
Joel Azpita (J.C. Evermore Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’8, 340lbs-Pass Protector
Francis 'Big Frank' Shrubsman (OCH): Sophomore, 6’6, 319lbs-Run blocker
Erik Byrd: Sophomore, 6’4 290lbs-Agile Protector
For the first time, LeBois Santura University is fielding an offensive line full of quality. Sophomore guard Marwin Finlayson of Quebec is without a doubt one of the finest at his position in college football and easily earned Big-8 First-Team honors as a true freshman and will be eager to repeat the accomplishment. Lining up alongside him is incoming freshman Joel Azpita from J.C. Evermore Academy. Everything about Joel is larger than life, his size at 6’8 340lbs is insane for a freshman, but that does bring some concerns about his overall agility and potential for injury. I would almost argue he should spend the year as a back-up option so he can add functional strength as opposed to mass and maybe lose a little bit of weight to help him play as long as possible. The first alternate option for the Broncos will be the Ochren, sophomore guard Big Frank Shrubsman. He’s big, he’s round, he keeps his chest clean and his feet moving to push the line forward, Francis is everything you want from a run blocker. Finally, fellow sophomore Erik Boyd is quick and his feet and knows how to keep his quarterback or his running back up on their feet.
Tackles:
Gabe Hunter: Junior, 6’5, 295lbs-Agile
Devonta Clellen: Senior, 21, 6’3, 309lbs-Power
Iker Bravo: Junior, 6’2, 298lbs-Power
Jass Reuhnmatkers (Treasure Valley Triceratops/CAD): Freshman, 6’6, 289lbs, Agile
More size and power for LeBois’ offensive line as the tackle room is not wanting for big boys. Leading off is Gabe Hunter, the 6’5 junior is far more quick footed than one would expect with his near 300lbs frame, but that’s what makes him so capable in the pass protecting game. Devonta Clellen brings a little more strength to the position and just loves to smash on the line, doesn’t matter if it’s running, doesn’t matter if it’s passing, Devonta doesn’t care, he just likes smashing defenders. Iker Bravo is an absolute technician when it comes to his approach to playing the line, he has great hands, long arms, he knows how to keep the defense away and how to adapt to what they throw at him. Finally there’s the newcomer to the team, freshman Jass Reuhnmatkers from the Treasure Valley Triceratops brings an even bigger profile to the position with a strongly built 6’6 frame. The former high-school wrestling champion is super light on his feet and displays great technique, really the sky's the limit for the kid and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him snag a starting position during his underclassmen years.
Centers:
Rejhan Tatum: Senior, 6’4, 314lbs-Pass Protector
Bairo Oyañder (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’3, 322lbs-Agile Protector
Carlos Rodriguez: Senior, 6’2, 289lbs-Pass Protector
Bronco fans can rest easy knowing Rejhan Tatum is returning to start at center for the third season in a row now. He’s a big powerful lad, 6’4 and 314lbs with all the knowhow on keeping the quarterback on two feet while organizing the rest of the line. Freshman Bairo Oyañder from the Brøgby Preparatory Academy is likely to be the second-string center and will certainly take over the position upon Rejhan’s graduation. Carlos Rodriguez enters his final year in the same role as always, a dependable ‘break glass if emergency’ style option. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!
Main Formation: 4-3 defense
Tackle
Jair Judge (RAN): Sophomore, 6’8 280lbs-Power Rusher
Elias Olden (VAL): Sophomore, 6’ 220lbs-Speed Rusher
Mwayi Seo-Joon: Senior, 6’3, 287lbs-Speed Rusher
Travis Whitaker: Junior, 6’3, 320lbs-Power Rusher
The arrival of a pair of international freshmen to the tackle position last season played a huge role in bringing the Broncos to the College Football Semifinal. Ranorian Jair Judge is an absolute beast, 6’8 and 280lbs ain’t nothing to sneeze at and the big man knows how to smash through offensive lines. Elias Olden, the Vanorian, lines up with him and brings a totally different approach to the position; this sort of one-two punch is what made the Broncos defenseline so lethal last season. While JJ will absolutely smash you with his brute strength, Elias is an absolutely explosive athlete who uses his speed and powerful technique to burst through his opponent to get hands on the quarterback. Mway Seo-Joon is spectacular but he suffers from the presence of the two foreign tackles. He’s got great hands and knows how to use them, and pairs that with an explosive first step that allows him to really get into position and get his hands set much faster than his offensive counterpart. It’s unfortunate he’s in his senior year right as Jair and Elias are truly taking over. Junior Travis Whitaker is the heftiest fella at the defensive tackle position and is by far the strongest option at the position, at 6’3 320 pounds he is built to smash through the offensive line to absolutely fuck up whoever is unfortunate to have the ball.
Defensive Ends
Mack King: Sophomore, 6’1, 278lbs-Speed Rusher
Montrazel Brown: Senior, 6’5, 289lbs-Power Rusher
Priest Hunter (Timberline High School): Freshman, 6’4, 269lbs-Power Rusher
Isiah Mitchell: Junior, 6’2, 293lbs-Power Rusher
Who else would be leading the end position for the Broncos other than sophomore Mack King, the then freshman finished the season with 43 combined tackles, nine sacks, 3rd in the DPOY and unanimous selection to the Big 8 team of the season as he showcased incredible speed to blow past every type of offensive linemen put in front of him. He’s an absolute monster with incredible speed for his 6’1 278lbs build, and he pairs nicely with Montrazel Brown and perhaps perfectly with newcomer Priest Hunter. Lining up as the first alternate option is the freshman from Timberline High School, it’s Priest Hunter. The lad has an incredible physical profile, already 6’5 and nearly 270lbs with plenty of room to grow, he and Mack King are primed to make up for the departure of Alabaster Red to the Cardenao professional league. The senior Montrazel Brown is a brutal, teeth breaking tackler who specializes in both bruising whoever’s in front of him and smashing the ball free.
Middle Linebacker
Zane Anderson: Senior, 6’2, 240lbs-Run Stopper
Laura Davis (SNL): Sophomore-Pass Coverage
Cristian Salisu: Junior, 6’1, 227lbs-Speed Rusher
Zane Anderson has smashed his way into the starting middle linebacker position during his final year of eligibility, he’s an absolute destructive force who smashes the shit out of running attempts. Laura Davis has found herself in the position of potentially slipping to the second-string position despite a promising freshman season, her pass coverage ability may have become less important in a fresh defensive scheme drawn up by new hire, Ranorian Kai Hillis. Cristian Slisu will be the last man off the bench, but that doesn’t make him any less important with his incredible speed and athleticism, but he is always reacting to the play, rarely anticipating it and that’s a fair bit disappointing from a junior…but maybe he’ll put it together this season!
Outer Linebacker
Zaire Montclaire: 19, 6’4: 228lbs-Sophomore, Pass Coverage
Caleb Roberts (Tooele High School/UTA): Freshman, 6’2, 220lbs-Run Stopper
Juan Williams (Eastern Tip/NEW): Freshman, “Outstanding Size”-Power Rusher
Alabaster Red……IS NO MORE! The outside linebacker who dominated defenses for two years is now playing the professional game and it falls on the new guard to pick up the slack. Fortunately for the Broncos, they have a room full of underclassmen. Likely starter will be Zaire Montclaire, he’s a fantastic pass disrupter and that’s something Kai Hillis seems to want from the outside backs. Two new freshmen back Zaire up, the first is Utahan Caleb Roberts, the lad is a tackling machine and a relentless pursuit of the ball carrier. He’s got that football IQ and instinctive play that earned him the reputation as one of the best in his country and the Broncos are thrilled to have him. The final option for LeBois is Juan Williams, the freshman out of South Newlandia who pairs outstanding size with fantastic technique that projects him to be an elite quarterback rusher.
Cornerbacks:
Mateo Marino: Senior, 6’3, 207lbs-Hybrid
Nate Hart: Senior, 5’10, 199lbs-Pass Coverage
Rogerio Ludovico: Sophomore, 6’, 213lbs-Hybrid
Daniel Koo (Baja Calania/QUE): Freshman-6’2--198
Conrad Siolla (SHM): Sophomore, 6’1, 200lbs-Hybrid
Another year, another starting season for Mateo Marino, who has quietly become an elite defensive player for the Broncos. Standing perfectly at 6’3 and 207 pounds, Mateo has a fantastic blend of size and speed that allows him to dominate in both the pass and rush game; the senior is an absolute killer who is poised to have the breakout season his attributes have made inevitable. Also he has awesome celebrations! Lining up next to him will be fellow senior back Nate Hart, the 5’10 track star is fast, fast, and fast as hell, along with being a surprisingly powerful tackler despite his shorter height. Sophomore Rogerio Ludovico is a bowling ball with his 6’ 213lbs build devoted exclusively to smashing the shit out of whoever he’s targeting, it can be a receiver or a running back or a quarterback, don’t matter to Rogerio! He’s gonna bring the boom. Newcomer Daniel Koo of Quebec has raised plenty of eyebrows with his 4.4 40 time, strong footwork, and innate knowledge of coverage schemes meaning he’ll certainly see some, albeit limited, play time as a freshman. Another option for the Broncos is sophomore Conrad Siolla from Schima Bas, the second year player is a heat-seeking missile for stopping plays behind the line of scrimmage…but it was a rare occasion when he correctly anticipated an offensive play call.
Safeties:
Heinrik Dessler (CMT): Sophomore, 6’4, 210lbs-Pass Coverage
Mayo Rodriguez: Senior, 6’, 192lbs-Pass Coverage
Cheeto Masarati (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’5, 225lbs–All-Arounder
Sophomore Heinrik Dessler will retain his starting position after a solid, if not quite spectacular, freshman season that saw him learn how to pair his height, length, and ball-hawk instincts to the college game. Another season starting should be a treat for Bronco fans, and they’ve got Mayo Rodriguez right behind him to patrol the deep field. The 6’ senior has a great sense of anticipation and a great brain, it doesn’t take him long to get a read on opponents plays and how they attack coverage. Newcomer Cheeto Maserati from the famed Brøgby Preparatory Academy brings an insane amount of size to the position, at 6’5 and 225 pounds, the kid has a professional league ready body but definitely needs the time in college to learn the mental aspects of the game. He’ll get plenty of action as a true freshman.
Alexandria University Swordsmen
Quarterbacks:
Nick Singer (RAN): Sophomore, 6’6 215lbs-Pocket Passer
Trent Delarian: Sophomore, 6’3, 232lbs-Field General
Rudy Garcia (Alexandria High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’1, 197lbs-Scrambler
As the highest rated recruit to come to Cardenao during the 29th recruitment window, there was a lot of expectation thrust on Nick Singer’s shoulders and it’s fair to say he delivered. As a freshman, the 6’6 multisport athlete put up some respectable numbers and formed an immediate partnership with receiver Deacon St. John. Singer can throw it deep, he can throw it accurately, he stands talls under pressure, he’s legit. Backing him up will likely be fellow sophomore Trent Delarian, who will potentially have to wait until his senior year to even sniff the starting position, but he can definitely fill in if need be. Trent’s a calm and composed passer who can hit all three levels of the field, but his biggest strength is his ability to diagnose the defense and organize his offense accordingly. Finally, there’s the inbound freshman Rudy Garcia, the local kid from Alexandria High School. While he’s not much of a ‘quarterback’, the kid is definitely an athlete and a major threat when he scrambles out of the pocket and starts running with the ball. Unfortunately, serving as a glorified running back isn’t the ideal way to approach the quarterback position, so Rudy Garcia will need some time to learn the craft.
Running Backs:
Javaire Caron: Senior, 20, 5’10, 206lbs-Power Back
Mario LePlus: Sophomore, 6’1, 192lbs–Elusive Back
Zachary Perez (NGS): Sophomore–Power Back
Xanderrick Woolley (Elmo High School/UTA): Freshman, 5’11, 236lbs–Power back
Nick Hollowell (Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Freshman, 5’10, 180lbs–Elusive back
The departure of Mason Steele to the Cardenao Football League means there’s a fight in the running back room to become the starter. Senior Javair Caron seems likely to earn the position as a rocket powered bowling ball, but there are some lingering concerns over an ACL injury in his sophomore student, and it’s not exactly like he’s got the highest ceiling as a player but someone needs to wrack up the yards. Mario LePlus will likely be the #2, the sophomore is a slippery and elusive runner who is a constant home run threat. Zachary Perez of New Gesem will sit on the bench but see a fair amount of snaps, useful for a player who ran for over a 1000 yards as a sophomore, junior, and senior in high school…so what the hell why not give him the ball when need be? It’s a pair of incoming freshmen to fill out the room, first it’s Xanderrick Woolley, the Utahn from Elmo High School is already a monster at 236lbs at 5’11 in height. He’s a classic, clear power back who will destroy anyone ahead of him, but he might need to slim down a little bit just to keep his body healthy. Nick Hollowell from the famous Escuela Nacíonal DCPF is the final name on the list, he’s a shifty sort of back who really explodes out of his cuts but will need some time in the weight room to get his body cut just right.
Tight ends:
Qamiya Parrine (CMT): Sophomore, 6’7, 245lbs-Vertical Threat
Jón Úlfursson (Endor High School/KYP): Freshman, 6’7, 284lbs–All-Around Threat
Irv Koyack: Junior, 6’4, 269lbs-Possession
Qamiya Parrine had a solid season as a freshman, earning a position on the Big-8 First Team thanks to his incredible route running and more will be expected this season. 6’7 is insane, the stop-start agility Qamiya has for someone his size is ridiculous, and his ability to work routes and send defenders to the hotdog stand is remarkable. The second option will be the new freshman from The Kytler Peninsulae, Jón Úlfursson from Endor High School. Another 6’7 target for the line but, unlike Qamiya, Jón is built like an absolute tank with a 284 pound frame; the kid has a natural sense for catching the ball but lacks refinement on that front meaning he’ll likely see snaps as the flanker-a block-first pass option who will see a lot more time as he develops his skills. Finally, there’s the junior Irv Koyack. Big Irv is an absolute monster on the offensive line, sure he can kinda catch the ball…sometimes, but his true value lies in being an additional blocker who loves putting in the work to keep Nick Singer on two feet.
Wide Receiver:
Deacon St. John, Sophomore, 6’3, 204lbs-Playmaker
John Hughes: Senior, 5’10, 185lbs-Deep Threat --Returner
Kario Memphis: Senior, 6’7, 224lbs-Physical
Pule Tuigamela (UTA): Sophomore, 6’3 214lbs-Playmaker
Dillon Periman: Sophomore, 6’2, 228lbs-Physical
Riccardo Alessandro (Obyedako High Blue Devils/CAD): 5’10, 173lbs-Deep Threat
Headlining the newly formed Alexandria University wide receiver room is, of course, Deacon St. John. He has the build, the hands, the route running, he has the it factor and, a season removed from a unanimous selection to the Big-8 first team as a true freshman……the sky is the limit and that’s become his expectation. Every team needs a burner: a short but faster than a jackrabbit receiver who gets out there and pushes the field and Alexandria University has exactly that in John Hughes. The 5’10 senior is FAST, clocking in a 4.28 40 and he’s got a pretty decent, though not great, route tree beyond his world class speed. So that’s a helluva one-two punch for Alexandria, you’ve got an elite playmaker in Deacon St. John and a touchdown threat in John Hughes…how could it get worse? Enter 6’7 Kario Memphis. He is tall, he has good hands, he does not have good speed, he has elite height (which is a pretty helpful skill to have), but despite all of those skills, he doesn’t have that quality to make things happen for himself and that’s a damn shame. He has most of the things you want in your receiver but Kario has the type of skill level that means he’ll be linked to the quality of his quarterback…fortunately Nick Singer looks to be that guy. Next off the bench is sophomore Pule Tuigamela from the Utahn Theocratic Republic, he’s got a good body, decent hands, passable speed, and was a solid relief option in limited snaps as a freshman. Right behind him is fellow sophomore Dillon Periman, this guy has a pro-ready build but fails to excel in any particular area, he’s more a jack-of-all-trades player with plenty of time to improve. The final receiving option for Alexandria is the newcomer Riccardo Alessandro, he’s short and slight of frame but he’s fast, he’s agile, and he can catch a football, what more do you need from your end of bench option?
Guards:
Tayvion Jenkins: Senior, 6’6 326lbs-Pass Protector
Victor Leyva: Senior, 6’, 300lbs-Power
Harold Teller (Myana Northwestern High School/CMT): Freshman, 6’3, 280lbs–Agile
Christina Paol (SHM): Sophomore, 6’3, 230lbs-Agile
The big boy Tayvion Jenkins arrives at Alexandria University in his senior year and he is ready to do business. 6’6 and 326 pounds of functional strength, Tayvion can really do it all with his size, power, and agility making him a specialist at keeping Nick Singer standing up. OL icon Cortez Del Rio is headed to the Big Boy League and senior Victor Leyva shoots to the starting position. He’s 6’ so way on the shorter end of the spectrum for the guard position, but he has a ton of power and knows how to explode up into a defensive lineman or an edge rusher to put them on their back. That being said, there’s definitely room for Harold Teller of Chromatika to steal the starting position, the 1-time high school champion and #24 recruit out of his home country is a well rounded left guard who has quick, active feet. He’s got the hands and the feet to work in both pass and run protection schemes, so his versatility will be key for a new look Broncos offense. Christina Paol of Schima Bas had her chances as a freshmen and displayed solid speed and surprising strength, but the fact of the matter was as a 230 pound offensive linemen…you’re going to get fucked up and that’s more or less what the tape showed.
Tackles:
Tanielu Tupua (UTA): Sophomore, 6’7 313lbs-Power
Ronald Morris: Senior, 6’5, 300lbs-Pass Protector
Tucker Bayfield: Senior, 6’4, 329lbs-Power
Marcos Aoás Corrêa (Mokuleia Island High/CAD): Freshman, 6’5, 298lbs-Agile
As a true freshman for New Cardonia State, Tanielu Tupua of Utah was an absolute monster and he looks set to take it to another level this season for Alexandria University. Sure it’s his first year at Alexandria but he’s already earned a role as an offensive captain thanks to his light-hearted, joking nature that he pairs with a controlled aggression in the weight room and on the field to grind the most out of his teammates. The Swordsmen will be thrilled to snag senior Ronald Morris, the former Thunderhawk has been a starter since his freshman year. The 6’5 300 pound beast is a tried and true presence who provides a reliable pass protection option as he anchors and bats away pressure. Senior Tucker Bayfield becomes the first name off the bench after Mark Markson heading to the Cardenao Football League. At 6’4 and nearly 330 pounds of pure strength, TB is big, he’s hard, he’s a wrecking ball on the line. Finally there’s freshmen Marcos Aoás Corrêa from Mokuleia Island High, the 6’5 beast is quick on his feet and very agile, something that should translate well to both pass protection and run blocking.
Centers:
Segun Spriggs: Senior, 6’2, 310lbs-Pass Protector
Romeo Davis: Junior, 6’3, 300lbs-Agile
Sean Ventura (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 298lbs-Pass Protector
After three seasons as a backup option, Segun Spriggs finally gets the center position to himself in his senior season. The 22 year old has plenty of size at 6’2 and 310 pounds while still having quick feet and active hands making him a great protection piece for Nick Singer. For two seasons Romeo Davis was the only underclassmen at this position, now though he enters his junior year fully ready to backup Segun Spriggs. At 6’3 and 300lbs, Romeo has plenty of mass and strength but a background in gymnastics means he’s flexible as hell, he’s got great footwork and balance, it’s basically impossible to get him down and out of the way. Finally there’s the freshman Sean Ventura from Skyview Mountain Academy in Cardenao. The 6’2 newcomer is just under 300 pounds and he’s a very stout, very powerful blocker who can move his legs decently enough to keep the pocket intact for his quarterback.
Main Formation: 4-3 defense
Tackles:
Carlos Mukuamo: Junior, 6’4, 302lbs-Speed Rusher
Theo Mon’Sinclair: Sophomore, 6’5, 312lbs-Run Stopper
Junior Washington (Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Freshman, 6’6, 291lbs-Speed Rusher
Jeremy Jones (Academia Cardonia/CAD): Freshman, 6’3, 309lbs-Power Rusher
The defensive tackle room for Alexandria University is a young and mostly inexperienced one. The sole upperclassmen Carlos Mukuamo starts as a solid speed rusher–6’4, 302 pounds, I’d hate to have him charging at me! Due to a lack of upperclassmen talent, sophomore Theo Mon’Sinclair slots in as the other defensive tackle for the Swordsmen. Hailing from the island of Juacuacanos, the 6’5 312 pound lad is big as hell and knows how to identify gaps in the offensive line for him to smash through to shut down the run game. Freshman Junior Washington from Escuela Nacíonal DCPF will be coming off the bench for his first year. Junior is ‘slightly built’ at ‘only’ 291 pounds on his 6’6 frame, and this build gives him a speed and agility boost compared to the typical tackle, allowing him to blitz right through the offensive line to sack the quarterback. At only 6’3 but weighing in at almost 309 pounds, it’s clear Jeremy Jones is here to be a wrecking ball. The freshman from Academia Cardonia is built to crush and dang does he love crushing his opponents.
Defensive Ends:
Caden Larrazabal: Junior, 6’3, 295lbs-Run Stopper
Garran Cluff (UTA): Sophomore, 6’6 267lbs-Speed Rusher
Trinton Axpe: Senior, 6’2, 317lbs-Power Rusher
Velus Howard: Senior, 6’2, 284lbs-Speed Rusher
This is a strong room for Alexandria University, the Swordsmen have a good blend of senior experience and an exciting sophomore, though a lack of freshmen talent could become an issue here in a season or two. The first name on the sheet is by far Caden Larrazabal, the 6’3 junior is powerfully built with a 295 pound frame that he uses to thrash the offensive line with quickness, agility, and an unquenchable desire to demolish the O-line makes him a killer. Sophomore Garran Cluff of Utah has earned the right to start, initially it was a shaky freshman campaign but some productive time in the gym and making the most of his limited snaps has made it clear: the kid needs to start. He’s tall, he’s fast as shit, he has a killer row to get past his mark, and he excels at slapping down pass attempts thanks to his long arms. Behind the Junior and a Sophomore are a pair of Seniors, the first being Trinton Axpe. He lovvvves running through and around the offensive line with reckless abandon, his 6’2 317lbs build is just ridiculous, he’s so thick yet powerful yet quick on his feet……BUT he might just have too much build for his bones, the senior has spend over half of each season in the injury room. Finally, there’s Velus Howard. At 6’2, he’s the same height as Trinton but Velus is a much different build at 284 pounds and plenty of agility and speed to work around his opponent.
Middle Linebackers:
Núñez Ribeiro: Senior, 6’4, 253lbs-Field General
Rashad Nijman: Junior, 6’3, 244lbs-Run Stopper
Rudi Larkin: Sophomore, 6’2, 239lbs-Pass Coverage
Last season, Núñez Ribeiro blew into the limelight last season for New Cardonia State as he dominated the middle of the gridiron. Núñez has a sweet blend of speed, size, overall athleticism, and an ELITE ability to recognize plays and shut down the offense. Junior Rashad Nijman of Vaareda has become one of the better smash mouth run stopping linebackers, a ton of strength, a ton of tackling, a ton of knowing exactly how to bring his prey to the ground. Sophomore Rudi Larkin didn’t have a freshman season to remember but that’s alright, he got bigger, he got stronger, he’s a solid pass coverage option with game-ready length and vertical ability. Not a lot of quality here for Alexandria University, not a lot of depth, so this could become a problem position for the Swordsmen.
Outer Linebackers:
Valerio Zarragoza: Sophomore, 6’2, 219lbs-Speed Rusher
Orlando Jreerwood (Glenelg Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’1, 202lbs-Pass Coverage
Trevardo Chung (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Freshman: 6’2, 230-Run Stopper
Kristian Edvardsen (Magnus Academy/VAL): Freshman, 6’, 176lbs–Speed Rusher
Unfortunately for Alexandria University, the outer linebacker room is entirely full of underclassmen. Valerio Zarragoza has won the #1 outer linebacker position, though that might say more about the overall quality at the position rather than Valerio’s singular talent. He’s got bags of pace and tons of functional strength, he’s a real athlete who loves ripping down the seam to blow a play up. Orlando Jreerwood brings speed, a strong ability to communicate with his defensive unit, and some surprisingly solid hands that might make him an interception threat in later years. After Orlando it’s another freshmen for Alexandria University, this time 6’2 musclepacked Trevardo Chung from St. Bonaventura High School in Cardenao. Trevardo is a powerful athlete with bags of strength, he loves ripping into the hole to smash the ball carrier, usually for a loss. Finally there’s fellow freshmen Kristian Edvardsen brings a slight but speedy frame to the position, the Vanorian from the Magnus Academy. Not a lot of power, not a lot of meat to his build so he’ll spend the majority of his freshman season hitting the weight room to add functional strength to his frame.
Cornerbacks:
Andreas Sparrelind (TKT): Senior, 6’1, 200lbs-Pass Coverage
Theodore Usania (CMT): Sophomore, 6’5, 240lbs-Hybrid
Mac Maghnuis: Junior, 5’11, 197lbs-Pass Coverage
Teijeh Nieddu: Senior, 6’2, 207lbs-Hybrid
Haritz Arteria: Sophomore, 6’1, 203lbs-Run Support
Andreas Sparrelind, the senior from Tikariot, returns as the first name in the cornerback room. Blessed with solid speed, a strong build, and good anticipation of the game, Sparrelind is everything you want in a cornerback. Beyond him is Theodor Usania of Chromatika, at 6’5 he has incredible size for the position and that alone means he can contest any ball thrown his way, but his real strength comes as a run support asset. Junior Mac Maghnuis is quick, aggressive, and plays on pure instinct. He’s a real livewire out there and sometimes that goes great, sometimes less so when he lets his instinctual play go too far. Senior Teijeh Nieddu is an interesting case. He has all the physical tools in the world to succeed but he’s never been able to put it together on a consistent snap by snap basis…despite that, he has a fantastic nose for interceptions, perhaps being the best in all of Alexandria University’s backfield. Very frustrating for fans. Finally, there’s the sophomore Haritz Arteria. 6’1, 203lbs, and a crazy 6’9 wingspan, the kid has everything you could want in a cornerback prospect. He’s got all the tools and he seems to have a good sense of the mental aspect of defense, so Swordsmen fans have a lot to look forward to here.
Safeties:
Jerome Peavey: Junior, 6’2, 215lbs-Zone
Jay Reed: Senior, 6’1 193lbs-Hybrid
Dani Gonzalez, Senior, 5’11, 189lbs-Zone
Phrez Marenial: Sophomore, 6’, 198lbs-Hybrid
Alexandria University returns all of New Cardonia State’s safeties in a move that will be sure to bolster the Swordsman's defense unit. Jerome Peavy is a hard hitting safety with a knack for punching the ball free. At 6’2 with a good vertical, he’s also more than capable as a pass defender. Jay Reed is a junior speed demon who’s comfortable covering the run and pass while Dani Gonzalez is a pure pass coverage option who can cover all sorts of receivers, but the senior’s injury proneness has made him an unreliable option. Sophomore Phrez Marenial is an interesting prospect for his upper class years, he’s got solid speed and incredible jumping but his hands are…not great and he’s got some concentration problems, so a season on the bench and in the film room might do him some good.
